These softnecks are classically braided when they are harvested. They do not produce scapes and may fall over (lodge) just before harvest which is typically after most other types. Silverskin varieties are found in grocery stores since they have the longest storage / shelf life of all garlic types. Bulbs are fine, silver-white, smooth, tear-drop shaped and average 10-16 cloves per bulb. Clove peeling becomes easier the longer they are stored. As a group, Silverskin flavor is very hot with little complexity.
